The Department of Medicine at Penn State College of Medicine is making great strides in its key mission areas of patient care, research, education and community service - not only improving upon personal bests but overtaking national standards as well.

The department's dedication to constant improvement puts it at the forefront of quality and expertise.

The Department of Medicine provides patient care and oversight for the diagnostic and treatment centers at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center through its many divisions, including internal medicine as well as focused expertise within several specialty areas.

Outpatient visits are growing, with more than 100,000 every year.

Department faculty engage learners at all levels, including students enrolled in medical and graduate schools as well as residents, fellows and physician colleagues.

As part of a top-tier public research university, many Department of Medicine faculty members engage in collaborative research with faculty in other colleges at Penn State. Departmental research programs include close to $50 million of sponsored research each year, with residents, fellows and medical students participating in clinical, basic and translational research in collaboration with faculty.
