Research interests
Dr. Alexander Payatakes has been academically active throughout his career. His research interests include wrist biomechanics and reconstruction, vascularized bone grafting, nerve injuries, microsurgery and hand anatomy. His academic endeavors have led to publications in international peer-reviewed journals and Hellenic journals, as well as multiple textbook chapters.
Teaching and educational interests
Dr. Alexander Payatakes’ educational interests include upper extremity anatomy, hand pathology/surgery and microsurgery, and he has been honored for his investment in both teaching and learning from residents, medical students, fellows and nurses in the classroom, lab, clinic and operating room.
Clinical interests
Dr. Alexander Payatakes is a hand, wrist, upper extremity and microsurgery expert. His practice is composed of nerve, tendon and musculoskeletal problems of the hand, wrist and elbow, to include carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome and other nerve compressions; trigger finger; DeQuervain’s tenosynovitis; tennis elbow and other tendinopathies; tendon and nerve repairs, reconstructions and transfers; Dupuytren’s disease; fractures and ligamentous injuries of the hand, wrist, forearm and elbow; wrist arthroscopy; arthroplasty of the hand and wrist; microvascular repair and grafting; and congenital differences.
