Dr. Casey Pinto's research focuses on rural/urban disparities in the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections among adolescents. She is specifically interested in the behavioral and/or social environmental factors that are associated with STI prevalence and how these vary between rural/urban populations.

Teaching and educational interests

Dr. Casey Pinto uses her experience from her research and clinical practice to teach courses related to infectious diseases and public health practice. Additionally, she enjoys helping students become autonomous and achieve their research goals.

Clinical interests

Dr. Casey Pinto is a nurse practitioner who has practiced in infectious disease since 2009. Outside of her affiliation with Penn State, she provides inpatient infectious disease care and works with the Pennsylvania Department of Health to provide STD care in its free clinics.
