Dr. Erich Batra’s research interests have focused on childhood injury and prevention. For over 15 years he has been involved with the Child Death Review program, which uses a multi-disciplinary approach to reviewing preventable causes of death in children. He has been involved with this on a local, state and national level. From this work he found his two main areas of research – infant safe sleep and youth suicide prevention.
Dr. Erich Batra has been involved with medical education for the majority of his professional career. Currently, he supervises residents in the inpatient adult setting. He is also very excited to teach medical students. He is a medical society advisor/coach for the Foundations of Patient Centered Care course for medical students. In this role, he mentors new physicians on how to take history and physicals and help them get ready for their clinical years. In addition, Dr. Batra advises 4-5 students per year for all four years of their medical school. He also often has students accompany him in the outpatient setting.
Dr. Erich Batra enjoys seeing patients of all ages, newborns to geriatrics. He practices outpatient medicine at the Penn State Health Palmyra office where he sees all ages. He also enjoys rounding on the adult inpatient residency service, where he supervises residents taking care of patients in the hospital. In addition, Dr. Batra sees patients at a local nursing home in Lebanon, PA.
