Dr. Gregory Billy is interested in clinical responses to fluoroscopic guided spinal injections: caudals, sacroiliac joint and lumbar epidural injections, as well as the role of the lumbar core muscles in chronic lower back pain and following denervation procedures.
His current projects include clinical trials on the effects of Taiji and Qigong on fibromyalgia patients; the efficacy of fluoroscopically guided lumbar epidural steroid injections; and the use of collagen hydrolysate as a dietary supplement for knee pain in physically active college students. He is also involved in an ongoing study regarding abnormalities found via screening two-dimensional echocardiography during the preparticipation evaluation of NCAA Division I athletes.
He previously studied the efficacy of fluroscopically guided caudal epidural steroid injections and changes in lumbar disc morphology associated with prolonged sitting.
Dr. Billy's work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
Dr. Gregory Billy teaches in the Medicine for Consumers class for medical students, sharing topics relevant to the complex medical system. He additionally teaches medical students, residents and fellows about spinal pathology and effective treatment algorithms.
Dr. Gregory Billy's clinical interests include interventional lumbar spine procedures, neck pain, electrodiagnostic medicine and sports medicine.
