Research interests
Dr. Jennifer Booth consults and collaborates with researchers who work with animals in their research. She provides training to personnel, teaching various techniques ranging from basic animal handling to surgery. Her collaboratory efforts have led her to begin developing expertise in rodent ultrasound imaging and rat sexual behavioral research. Her independent research interests include the development and use of simulation devices for teaching personnel to perform animal-related techniques.
Teaching and educational interests
As a faculty member in the Department of Comparative Medicine, Dr. Jennifer Booth teaches and mentors veterinary residents in Penn State College of Medicine's Laboratory Animal Medicine MS program. She often implements a student-centered approach when teaching in the classroom to maximize student engagement and application of knowledge.
Dr. Booth is the director of the Comparative Medicine externship program, which allows students the opportunity to explore biomedical research from the perspective of the veterinarian and veterinary technician.
