Research interests
Dr. Joslyn Kirby is a dermatologist and physician-scientist whose research has focused on value, including variation in care, costs, and outcomes, and hidradenitis suppurativa.
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with a large negative effect on quality of life. Dr. Kirby's research related to HS included health services research of utilization and costs, coping and resilience and research of novel outcome measures.
Dr. Kirby has been an investigator on several clinical trials, both industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated. She also utilized mixed methods in educational research and developed a novel workplace-based evaluation tool to support resident and student evaluation. She also worked to design and implement a clinical decision support app for prescribing topical corticosteroids (the CorticoCream Calculator, available in the iTunes and Play stores).
