    Research interests

    Dr. Justin Tondt has a research interest in obesity, insulin resistance, and nutritional interventions. He has coauthored multiple clinical practice statements and serves as the chair the Obesity Algorithm Workgroup with the Obesity Medicine Association. He also serves as an associate editor for the peer-reviewed journal, Obesity Pillars. His current research focuses on the effect of dietary composition on visceral adiposity and he is involved in multiple other projects on fatty liver disease as well. He is in the process of pursuing additional training in advanced statistical methodology.

    Teaching and educational interests

    Dr. Justin Tondt is a clinical educator for Penn State’s family medicine residency program as well as for students in their family medicine clerkship. He is also a research mentor for residents and students interested in obesity. He regularly provides lectures on obesity to multiple learner levels both at a local and national level, including being an instructor in Fundamentals of Obesity, a national course with the Obesity Medicine Association.

    Clinical interests

    Dr. Justin Tondt practices both primary care and obesity medicine. He provides comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages, including performing office-based procedures. He also works with the inpatient family medicine resident team at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center on a regular basis. In addition to primary care, Dr. Tondt provides non-surgical weight management care and participates in Penn State’s multidisciplinary fatty liver clinic.
