Research interests
Dr. Larissa Whitney is interested in promoting academic research surrounding Physician Assistant (PA) education, promoting mental health and wellness for PA students, and interdisciplinary education.
In addition to presentations accepted at the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (2020 & 2021), Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants (2021), Southeastern Surgical Congress (2021), and Academic Surgical Congress (2022), Dr. Whitney has been published in The American Surgeon for her work in quality and performance improvement among the Amish Population and has co-authored chapters in two medical textbooks.
Teaching and educational interests
Dr. Larissa Whitney has been working full time in Physician Assistant (PA) education for eight years serving as a didactic faculty member, clinical coordinator, and program director at various programs throughout Pennsylvania. She is passionate about advancing PA education for future generations of students and so incredibly proud of the students that we have here at Penn State. Dr. Whitney is driven to enhance the mental health and wellness of PA students completing their education and is excited to partner with providers and educators across the Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine Campuses. In her role with Penn State Health’s Family and Community Medicine Department, Dr. Whitney precept's students in the outpatient clinic setting.
Clinical interests
Dr. Larissa Whitney enjoys the opportunity to care for patients across the lifespan and is excited to meet patients and their families where they are and enhance the provision of patient-centered care for all.
