Clinical interests
Dr. Matthew Davies is interested in the field of both general surgical gynecology as well as surgery directed toward female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. He performs evaluations and surgeries to correct disorders of prolapse (cystocele, rectocele, vaginal vault prolapse and uterine prolapse) as well as for urinary and fecal incontinence.
He also manages patients with microscopic hematuria, recurrent urinary tract infections and urinary retention as well as voiding dysfunction. Further, his expertise involves the evaluation and management of post-menopausal bleeding.

Research interests
Dr. Matthew Davies' main research interests include areas of pelvic floor dysfunction such as prolapse and incontinence. His three main areas of research are:
- Outcomes of surgery or other interventions for pelvic organ prolapse
- Optimizing management of urinary or fecal incontinence
- Best treatment for lower urinary tract disorders such as recurrent urinary tract infections, overactive bladder and urinary retention
Teaching and educational interests
Dr. Matthew Davies teaches the 20 Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency trainees at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center the principles of surgery as it relates to female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. This includes lectures on an ongoing basis as well as real-time teaching in the operating room.
Further, the residents and students are involved in Dr. Davies' work in outpatient offices, seeing patients as they present to learn the details of not only a proper medical history but also the detailed exam.
