Dr. Roderick Clark has published numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts related to the epidemiology, genetics and clinical management of Urologic cancers. He has a research interest in prostate cancer and how we can better identify and treat individuals who are at high-risk of dying from this disease. His research also focuses on changing population-level trends in Urologic cancers using large administrative databases.
Dr. Clark is passionate about teaching both medical students and resident doctors. He is currently a problem-based learning facilitator at the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and is an active participant in the Department of Urology educational mandate.
He has received six teaching awards from his time as a resident and fellow including the University of Toronto MD Teaching Excellence Award, University of Western Ontario (UWO) Resident Teaching Award (awarded three times), UWO Class of Meds' 49 Award for Excellence in Teaching by a Resident and the UWO Department of Surgery Dr. Murray Girotti Award for Best Resident Teacher.
Dr. Clark is a fellowship trained Surgical Oncologist focusing on Urologic cancers. He has a clinical focus on the management prostate cancer for men starting from screening, diagnosis, clinical management and end-of-life care.
Dr. Clark has advanced clinical training in several techniques relevant to his clinical interest including: MRI and micro-ultrasound targeted prostate biopsy, transperineal prostate biopsy, focal therapies for prostate cancer (with a focus on high-intensity focused ultrasound), SpaceOAR hydrogel administration for mitigation of prostate cancer radiotherapy side effects, robotic prostate cancer surgery, open salvage prostatectomy and salvage pelvic lymph node dissection/metastatectomy.
