Personal profile
Research interests
Dr. Sarah Bronson is known for the creation of targeted transgenic lines, where small recombinant transgenic sequences, as well as bacterial artificial chromosome-based transgenic sequences, are introduced in a single-copy at the X-linked hypoxanthine phosphoribosyl transferase (HPRT) locus by a directly selectable homologous recombination event in murine embryonic stem cells. She has had a long-standing interest in manipulating the mouse genome via genetic alteration of mouse embryonic stem cells to study disease of hematologic, immunologic, developmental and metabolic importance.
Teaching and educational interests
Dr. Sarah Bronson is a Distinguished Educator of the College of Medicine who has been active in training doctoral students, serving on dissertation committees, directing and developing graduate degree programs, revising and directing curriculum and developing teaching metrics. She has also participated in the undergraduate medical curriculum as a small-group facilitator.
Dr. Bronson was formerly associate dean for interdisciplinary research, director of Research Development, co-director of the Grants Academy and co-director of the Junior Faculty Development Program.
She is particularly interested in the professional development topics of interdisciplinary research, scholarship, leadership and resilience.
