    Dr. Shaili Amatya is an early career physician-scientist who is studying the genetic variants of surfactant proteins, especially surfactant protein A and its receptor. Her research interests focus on the molecular mechanisms associated with the development of neonatal lung pathology such as bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). Her translational research encompasses using a transgenic mouse model and premature human samples to study extracellular vesicle microRNA signaling and how alterations in microRNA composition influence alveolar injury and the development of BPD.
