Dr. Thomas Lloyd is an emeritus professor whose primary appointment was in the Department of Public Health Sciences. Dr. Lloyd’s research career has four phases, each spanning about a decade: Regulation of Catecholamine Biosynthesis, Role of Sex Steroids in the Maintenance of the Female Skeleton, Roles Played by Calcium Intake and Physical Activity in Bone Development, and Use of Multimedia to Improve Health. Dr. Lloyd was the architect for Penn State’s Medical Student Research program and its director for 26 years. Although retired he is the lead investigator in an ongoing study of the kinetics of the growth spurt in adolescent females.
