Research interests
Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli’s interests are in orthopaedic and sports medicine. He has served as a principal investigator and co-investigator for several NIH grants, including "Investigation of Athletes at Risk for Traumatic Brain Injuries." Dr. Sebastianelli has coauthored several books and published more than 85 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Teaching and educational interests
Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli is involved in the education of orthopaedic sports medicine fellows, primary care sports medicine fellows, family and community medicine residents and medical students at Penn State University Park. He has also served as an oral examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery since 1999 and as a member of the same organization's Field Test Task Force for Sub-Specialty Certification Examination since 2010.
In addition, Dr. Sebastianelli has been a member of the Board of Directors of OMeGA Medical Grants Association since 2014. The organization's mission is to award and administer grants for graduate orthopaedic medical education through an independent, transparent process.
Clinical interests
Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli's clinical interests are in knee, shoulder, ankle, hand, hip and ligament surgery. This includes knee, hip and shoulder replacements. In addition, he has been Chief of Staff at Mount Nittany Medical Center since 2004.
