Research interests

Dr. William Curry’s research has focused on improving performance of primary care practices in areas of colorectal and breast cancer screening, diabetes care, chronic kidney disease management, and anticoagulation management. Much of this work incorporated the use of registries and use of decision aids to engage patients. Current research includes improving lung cancer screening and use of social determinants of health and geospatial mapping to identify potential health inequities in populations served within health systems.

Teaching and educational interests

Dr. William Curry continues to be a core educator for Health Systems Sciences at the undergraduate medical, graduate medical and health system employee level for over seven years. He developed and presents a semester population health course for masters and doctoral level learners in Public Health Sciences. He has presented to community groups on topics of diabetes management and advance care planning. Actively engaging medical students in value added medical education in the office setting is a passion for him.

Clinical interests

Dr. William Curry is interested in improving cancer screening within the clinical practice site. Studying and learning how to employ shared decision making in the office that is meaningful to patients and the care team is a goal for the coming years. A goal of sharing geospatial data in usable ways at the point of care to identify and reduce health inequities is one of his priorities.
