Dr Hennrikus is a Professor Emeritus and Distinguished Educator at Penn State College of Medicine. His research interests center on pediatric fractures, sports medicine, and global health. He is senior editor of a new book in development about ‘Value in Orthopedics’. Dr Hennrikus serves on the PSCOM Medical Student Research committee. He also serves as the co-director and moderator of the annual PSCOM global health research seminar. Dr Hennrikus is the trauma editor for the Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics and the orthopedic editor for the Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics Grand Rounds
Dr Hennrikus teaches medical students and residents at PSCOM and at overseas global health sites. He serves as secretary of the PSCOM Emeritus Faculty Organization and he interviews medical school candidates for PSCOM. He is a retired NAVY CAPT and past president of the Balboa Orthopaedic Alumni foundation. Dr Hennrikus has received the resident teaching award at Penn State on 3 occasions and the resident teaching award at Balboa Naval Hospital on 3 occasions. In 2020, Dr Hennrikus received the Excellence in Teaching award from the PSCOM graduating class.
Dr. Hennrikus serves as co-leader of the annual PSCOM global health trip to serve the Aboriginal population in the outback of Australia. He attends additional global health missions during the year to Ecuador, Cuba, Ghana, and the Philippines. Dr Hennrikus is board member of the Pennsylvania chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. In 2016, Dr Hennrikus received the Distinguished Service Award for orthopaedics from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
