Project Details

Description

I seek an NEH Fellowship to write a monograph in Book History called F. Scott Fitzgerald, Professional Author. The book is under contract to Harvard University Press. It will be the first book-length study of Fitzgerald as a working writer. I want to bring Fitzgerald as a professional to the fore, examining his career both during his lifetime and after his death. I will use the files of his publisher (Scribner's) and his literary agent (Harold Ober) to underpin this investigation. These files are at Princeton University Library, on open access, along with FSF's own papers. This will be a scholarly monograph of approximately 80,000 words. My aim is to submit the MS to Harvard in August 2014 for publication in the fall of 2015.
