Design, characterization, and control of compound CAT-HR unmanned aircraft ... Vindicator only slig

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

AbstractCoaxial tilting-head rotorcraft (CAT-HR) is a configuration that has promise for both manned and unmanned rotorcraft. They h,ave been flown at both small (~3kg) and larger (~150kg) scale, and their main advantage is the lack of a swashplate. Instead, longit, udinal and lateral control is provided by tilting the rotorhead with respect to the vehicles fuselage. This project seeks to develop, a compound CAT-HR vehicle. It is expected that significant improvement in forward flight speed will be possible, enabling expansion, in the mission envelope.Advances in flight control will be implemented to enable flight, and extensive use of advanced manufacturin,g for prototyping will enable the use of flight testing as the key driver of design improvements.(Approved for Public Release)
