Project Details
Description
This proposed knowledge translation (KT) activity is part of a large program of research focused on nutrition risk screening in young children that has been on going since 1997 involving Nutrition Screening Tool for Every Preschooler (NutriSTEP) and the recently developed and soon to be validated Toddler NutriSTEP. This proposal meets an expressed desire for individual parents to be able to readily complete one of these nutrition risk screening questionnaires at their convenience and be linked to appropriate resources, outside of current primary care models. Therefore, the primary objective of this proposal is to develop and maintain a NutriSTEP NET webpage and subpages focused on NutriSTEP and Toddler NutriSTEP, that will be hosted on the Dietitians of Canada (DC) website. The scope of this project is large as the DC website is THE credible source of nutrition information in Canada. It is expected that the outcome of this proposal will be widespread dissemination and application of these screening tools to the end user, the parent/caregiver; they will self-administer one of these screening tools and be provided individualized feedback based on results for their child. Credible resources that meet defined criteria for quality will be linked to the user's individual results and the user will be pointed towards local services such as Eat Right Ontario where their nutrition questions can be answered.
