ENHANCING MICROBIAL FOOD SAFETY BY RISK ANALYSIS

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Food systems are extremely complex and various aspects of production, quality, and animal and plant healthhave the potential to impact food safety. The goal of this project is toimprove the safety of food from farm to fork. Farmers, food producers and/or processors, retailers and consumers, recognize the need for an approach that utilizes applied research to determine the prevalence and ecology of foodborne pathogens in fresh and processed foods, establish effective control methods to decrease pathogen contamination of foods, and then communicate the results to our stakeholders. The focus will include risk-based strategies, effective interventions and/or control measures that will ensure food safety in the U.S.
