Project Narrative
This research will compare the effectiveness of alert-clinical decision support (CDS) for the management of
abnormal glucose in the hospital on clinical, economic and practice performance outcomes in patients admitted
to an academic and a community hospital. Anticipating an impactful project, this tool will optimize hospital glucose
control and improve patients’ outcomes providing an evidence-based resource to improve patient care. As a
subsequent advancement of this alert-CDS, it can be adapted into an electronic medical agnostic tool using
standards of interoperability within health informatics to widely benefit many patient across hospitals.
