Description
Project Narrative: Anemia is a debilitating disease that has a significant impact on quality of life. Blood
transfusions and treatment with human erythropoietin are standard treatments to alleviate anemia, however
they are not always effective and pose risks. This proposal will characterize how the body responds to anemia
and identify the normal responses to anemic stress. This analysis will provide the foundation for the
development of new more effective treatments for anemia.
