Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The Foundation's Future of Nursing Scholars Program was designed to create a diverse cadre of new PhD-prepared nurses who are committed to a long-term leadership career to strengthen nursing education, advance science and discovery through research, and lead change in nursing and health care. This grant supports a two-year, post-doctoral award to Dr. Rosa to explore what palliative care communication needs in the setting of cancer, including end of life care and bereavement are being unmet among sexual and gender minorities (SGM) individuals. It will also elicit SGM individuals' recommendations to improve palliative care provider communication techniques in the oncology setting, and will identify SGM persons' suggestions regarding what communication techniques and approaches might foster trust-building and feelings of inclusivity between themselves and palliative care providers.
