Project Details

Description

This project will create a collection of new, original stories about an emerging future Culture of Health from today's most thought-provoking futurists and fiction writers. It will be a groundbreaking book that will help readers take the abstract notion of a Culture of Health and see how it might emerge in the future. The deliverables will include an e-book offered on all major digital platforms, to reach the largest audience possible, and a keepsake, limited-run print edition. Working closely with the Foundation, the project team will engage 10 top-notch writers for the anthology. The team will select those writers with Foundation input and approval. The project team will arrange for the selected writers to speak with key Foundation staff and grantees to learn about the Culture of Health vision and current work, challenges, and risks in building a Culture of Health. After the writers develop their stories, the project team will vet the stories with the Foundation, then edit the anthology, and use high-level production standards. The project will include artwork from a top illustrator to develop a cover for each story. The project team will sign all writers; clear first-publication rights for the authors' new works; fully edit and design all aspects of the print and digital editions; distribute the e-book on the Foundation's behalf; and deliver finished copies of the print version to the Foundation. The Foundation will work with the project team on dissemination strategies but will make the book available without charge to interested members of the public. The audience of this book will be anyone interested in building a Culture of Health in the United States.
