Testing value of epigenetic variation in canola yield and resilience enhancement

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Objective 1.Conductfield-based testing of epigenetic variation in canola in commercialhybrid systems. These experiments will measure the agronomic and yield impacts of epigenetic variation derived through msh1-based grafting. Objective 2. Integrated DNA methylome and RNAseq analysis of canola and Arabidopsis rootstock leaf tissues. These experiments will compare datasets from canola and Arabidopsis for their predictive value in assessing grafting outcomes. Objective 3. Implementation and testing of genetic enhancements for rootstock performance.we will capitalize on Arabidopsis as a proxy for canola to expedite the testing of genetic modifications to the msh1-based graft system. Objective 4. Implement the canola epigenetic breeding system for commercial deployment. We will attempt to scale the platform for commercial suitability in collaboration with a commercial partner.
