Description
A two-week college and university institute for twenty-five participants on Transcendentalism and social reform.CCHA requests funding for a two-week Summer Institute for twenty-five college and university teachers on the topic of 'Transcendentalism and Reform in the Age of Emerson, Thoreau, and Fuller' to be held in Concord, MA from July 12-25, 2015. Based on the previous NEH Summer Institute and equally successful Landmarks Workshops, the Summer Institute features renowned scholars Joel Myerson, Robert Gross, Wesley Mott, Phyllis Cole, Sterling Delano, Laura Dassow Walls, John Matteson, and it is directed by Sandra Harbert Petrolionis. Summer Institute in-depth seminars will be supplemented with hands-on, place-oriented grounding in Transcendentalism and its major proponents, and it will facilitate NEH summer scholars' research and curriculum projects at Concord and Boston archival institutions.
