Abstract
Researchers transformed an Escherichia coli strain so that it expresses the dhaB gene from Klebsiella pheumoniae encoding a glycerol dehydratase and a gene for an aldehyde dehydrogenase, such as ALD4 from Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast. The yeast enzyme performedf better than others tested from E. coli and humans.
