Abstract

Different methods of optimizing terrain following and terrain masking trajectories have been investigated as an extension of earlier reduced order formulations, using 2D equations of motion with a constant velocity. This paper investigates expanding the problem to using 3D equations of motion - first using a constant velocity approach then incorporating the velocity as an additional state. In addition, the trajectories are optimized with respect to two different criteria - a minimum time case and a terrain masking case.
