Abstract
Crisis response necessitates timely, effective responses in a chaotic, uncertain environment. This complexity challenges teamwork by straining resources (both physical and human cognitive). Overcoming these challenges demands that teams are able to effectively coordinate and collaborate across all levels of a response, meaning they must share information, develop a shared understanding of the context, and develop common ground. In this environment, the impact of cultural components on effective teamwork is often overlooked.
