Abstract

This chapter explores critical multiculturalism as an alternative analytical framework, which scholars of children's literature might consider in their study of children's literature from diverse cultures. Critical multiculturalism is a framework that centers/decenters groups depending on how one approaches texts. The author explores the challenges inherent in different ways of defining critical multiculturalism and shares her experiences as a student, scholar, and educator of children's literature with a passion for social justice.
