Abstract

The covariance matrix adaptation evolutionary strategy (CMA-ES) is applied to several electromagnetics design problems alongside particle swarm optimization (PSO) and differential evolution (DE) to observe the variations in performance between the different algorithms. The three algorithms are applied to the design of aperiodic Sievenpiper surfaces, planar ultrawideband arrays, and a tri-band stacked patch antenna integrated with lumped elements.
