## Abstract

Discusses the modelling of laminar separation bubbles, in particular the prediction of shear layer development and the identification of a bursting criterion for short bubbles. The bubble model developed refines an initial estimate of the Gaster parameter by various processes, including calculation of the velocity distribution in the plateau, calculation of the boundary layer development, transition prediction, and calculation of turbulent length and undershoot. Transition is predicted when a given value of the shape factor is achieved. The reattachment condition of Horton is used. Compares velocity distribution and upper surface boundary layer obtained with results obtained using the Drela/Giles method and experimental data. Drag predictions agree better with experimental data than do modified Eppler code predictions. (C.J.U.)
