A course in fuzzy logic

Abstract

This paper will describe a new graduate-level introductory course in fuzzy logic offered at Pennsylvania State University. This special topics course in fuzzy logic include the foundations of fuzzy logic and fuzzy set theory, fuzzy logic controllers and fuzzy expert systems. Discussion and demonstration of commercially available fuzzy logic development tools are scheduled. Advanced topics of neural networks and adaptive systems will be introduced. The students were required to purchase a copy of CubiQuick (HyperLogic) fuzzy development package for class projects. The integration of the software development tool proved successful and results and recommendations will be described.
