Abstract

A general Hamiltion-type variational principle of linear thermo-magneto-electro -elastic solids is presented which contains stress, strain, displacement, electric displacement, electric field, electric potential, magnetic displacement, magnetic field and magnetic potential, temperature and heat flux as the independently assumed field variables. The stationary conditions of the functional are all governing equations in linear magneto-electro-elastic solids. Using a set of constitutive equations, a family of Hamiltion-type variational principles of linear thermo-magneto-electro- elastic solids is presented which are deduced from the general variational principle.
