Abstract

An observer design approach is introduced for a class of continuous-time nonlinear systems driven by finite energy disturbances. A Lyapunov-like technique is used in guaranteeing the uniform boundedness of the estimation error provided that a linear differential inequality holds. The new observer is applied to estimating the state of a nonlinear system that exhibits chaotic behavior in a synchronization scheme.
