Abstract

Due to the widely deployed Internet and distributed computing resources, net-centric computing has become an important part of the information technology, and formed one of the core areas in computer science education. How to effectively apply various education technologies to construct an experiment platform for supporting net-centric computing education is a challenging issue. We have built a multi-purpose networking laboratory at the University of Central Arkansas to meet the education requirements for net-centric computing. This lab provides a highly flexible networking platform and has been utilized in a wide variety of teaching and research areas, including computer networks, distributed computing, and parallel programming. This paper summarizes our experiences in constructing this multi-purpose networking laboratory and utilizing this lab platform for enhancing net-centric computing education.
