abstract = "A parallel, object oriented Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) solver is developed to study the impact of blast waves on arbitrary-shaped bodies. A very natural choice of classes is adopted to design the solver. A 3-D domain decomposition is used to parallalize the code. The Message Passing Interface (MPI) library is used to perform interprocessor communications. Preliminary results of two simulations using the parallel solver are presented. A test case to validate the solid boundary condition on the solid bodies is successfully tested. A significant speedup is observed for three sample problems tested for parallel performance.",
