abstract = "A quantitative analysis of the microstructural constituents in the HSLA 80/HSLA 100 series of steel welds and HAZS were examined. Two constituents were found which are acicular ferrite and low carbon upper bainite. Both entities are created by the same transformation mechanism but one forms intragranularly (acicular ferrite) whereas the other forms intergranularly (upper bainite).",
