abstract = "A system for performing highly parallel, predictable real-time image filtration is described. The application software was developed using a special class of abstract data types (ADT) constructed in the RT-X language which has predictable execution times. The filtration algorithm is based on a Universal Image Algebra. Additional image processing applications such as feature extraction via edge detection or hit-and-miss transformation, and image data-base retrieval can be implemented using this system.",
