note = "Funding Information: For those not in the know, the Timberline Acquisitions Institute evolved from an earlier acquisitions conference, the Feather River Institute. Like the Timberline Institute, the Feather River Institute was notable for including a smaller number of participants and being set in the rustic but beautiful setting of Blairsden, California, in the Northern California Sierra Nevada Mountains. Feather River was sponsored by the University of Pacific, and according to one of the Timberline Acquisitions Institute founders, Richard L. Brumley, the grandfather of Feather River was Tom Leonhardt, currently director of the Scarborough-Phillips Library at St. Edward{\textquoteright}s University in Austin, Texas (Brumley 1997, 127). Another “driving force” behind the Feather River Institute was Meta Nissley, who was the head of acquisitions and collection management at California State University, Chico, until she passed away in 2000 (Davis and Miller 2000, 64).",
