Abstract

ABA plays major roles in the regulation of several important plant processes. ABA is important for plant acclimation to drought, cold, and salinity, for development of seed dormancy, and for inhibition of seed germination. ABA at higher concentrations inhibits root growth, but detailed studies have also shown that some ABA is required to maintain root elongation during stress (54). ABA also affects the transcription of a large number of genes (48).
