Abstract
Following the implementation of the Affordable Care Act’s contraceptive coverage requirement, privately insured women’s out-of-pocket spending for contraception declined and their use of long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) increased. Claims data through 2016 show a continued increase in LARC insertions but an increase in out-ofpocket spending for intrauterine devices.
