Abstract

The Numbi field, discovered in July 1982 in Angola in water depths ranging from 120 to 150 ft., experienced a rapid production decline after reaching its peak production in 1992. In order to minimize this kind of decline and maximize recovery, reservoir management requires an interim and long term strategic reservoir-management changes. To quantify, rank, and optimize various long-term solution strategies for the reservoir and production problems at Numbi, a three-dimensional finite-difference model of the Numbi 57-05 reservoir is constructed. The model construction consists of integrating all available reservoir data into a detailed geologic model, constructed using a geocellular modeling software package.
