Adaptive Control of a Voltage Source Converter Based on the Third-Order Nonlinear Model

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

Abstract

This paper presents an adaptive controller which provides reactive power compensation and dc voltage tracking for a three-phase Voltage Source Converter (VSC) connected to a power grid system. The novelty of the method lies in the derivation of the adaptive control input and parameter update laws using a bilinear model of the VSC with uncertainties. The suggested approach ensures asymptotic state tracking for the dc voltage and reactive current of the closed-loop system. Simulation and experimental hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) results confirm the controller's excellent performance.
