The IAF has recently completed the aeromechanical certification of a new pod which is carried by an F-16 fighter on an outer wing station. From a/c loads and strength aspects, the certification involved a series of loads flight tests which revealed significant differences between the actual measured flight test store loads and the predicted store loads based on wing tunnel obtained aerodynamic store coefficients. To complete the certification process, an effort has been taken to calibrate the store aero. coefficients database to actual flight test results. The calibration was confounded by a lack of complete instrumentation. Additionally there was uncertainty regarding the cause of the differences, an uncertainty which affects how the calibration should be done. Logical assumptions were taken in order to overcome the lack of instrumentation. Once these assumptions were made, the aero data error was presented graphically in order to explore how best to model the correction terms. This method gave very satisfactory calibration results which have a reasonable basis.
