Abstract
Acoustic emission was intensively measured in PLZT ferroelectric ceramics. The difference between the data observed for the rhombohedral- and tetragonal-phase samples is stressed. The rhombohedral-phase sample was found to exhibit larger acoustic emission both in number and in level than the tetragonal-phase sample. This difference can be explained by considering the domain reversal mechanisms.
