Abstract

Drying rate, dry matter loss and quality were measured during field curing and storage of alfalfa with (1) no conditioning (2) mechanical conditioning (3) chemical conditioning and (4) both mechanical and chemical conditioning. Although conditioning normally speeded drying, dry matter and quality losses were similar for all treatments which received the same precipitation.
