Abstract

Field drying rate of alfalfa was correlated with weather, crop and soil conditions to determine the influence of these factors on drying. Models were developed through nonlinear regression which predict alfalfa moisture content over time as a function of the more important factors. Drying was primarily related to solar intensity with some influence from air temperature or vapor pressure deficit, soil moisture content, swath density and chemical conditioning.
