Abstract

Two surgical patients developed an eczematous eruption after povidone-iodine (PVP-1) was used for skin antisepsis. Patch tests with 10% PVP-1 solution and also with 0.5% iodine in 70% isopropyl alcohol were positive, thus documenting allergic contact dermatitis to these chemicals.
